El Chorro is an impressive place to visit.  Here there is an amazing gorge - an immense cleft cut through a vast limestone massif by the Guadalhorce River.  The daunting walls of rock as high as 400 m along its 3 km  length are popular with experience climbers. In fact climbers from all over the world come here to test their skills.

Teba Gorge is located 3 km from the village. This picturesque gorge is where the Rio la Venta cuts through the limestone hills to join the reservoir.  It is a haven for all kinds of butterflies, there's plenty of birdlife along the river banks and the gorge is a nestling site for the Egyptian vulture and Bonelli's eagle, along with plenty of other varieties such as black kites and choughs. At the end of the gorge is the remains of a water powered mill used to grind seeds during the roman period and is dated 78AD.

Laguna de Fuente de Piedra is aprox 45 minutes drive from Teba and is the largest natural lake in Andalucia and a celebrated site for observing birdlife.  The shallow water-level and high saline content of the lake and the crustaceans that these conditions encourage attract a glorious flock of greater flamingo each spring, making this Europe's only inland breeding ground for the species.

El Torcal, located near Antequera is the most geologically arresting of Andalucia's natural parks.  A massive high plateau of eroded grey limestone dating from the Jurassic period, tempered by a lush growth of hawthorn, ivy, wild rose and thirty species of orchid.  It is easily explored using the 3 walking routes and offers magnificent views over the valley

Ronda. A 40 minute drive west will take you to Ronda, set amid a ring of dark, angular mountains, the full natural drama of Ronda is best appreciated as you enter the town.  Built on an isolated ridge of the sierra, it's split in half by a gaping river gorge that drops sheer from 130m on three sides.  It is a beautiful town to explore with many historical buildings and churces.  The bullring is the oldest, one of the largest and certainly the most-venerated in Spain.

Antequera is also a 40 minute drive from Teba.  It sits on two low hills in the valley of the Rio Guadalhorce and is an attractive market town with some important ancient monuments and a clutch of fine churces.  It too has a bullring and some famous prehistoric cabes called the Dolmens.

Teba is located in the very middle of the four major cities of Andalucia.  Seville to the west, Cordoba in the North, Granada to the East and Malaga in South.  It is therefore an ideal base for touring and sightseeing.  All are easily accessible by the motorway network.  The mainline station of Bobadilla is only 20 minutes drive and has direct lines to all these cities and Madrid.
